Recent events have made me realize I need a garage. Once that happens... Miata build will resume. For now I’ll be dailying my Ranger.

I tallied up the cost of everything that was stolen. About $2600. Ouch. And of course insurance covers zero. Even if everything was in stock (which it isn’t) I still don’t want to buy everything again only to worry about another break-in. It sucks. It sucks a lot. So I’m parking my baby at my Grandmother’s, putting it under a tarp, and focusing on other things. If I get the management position I’m looking at... Well. Things will be good. If not, I’ll figure something out.

I should be happy because it could have been a lot worse. My stereo system was untouched. Guess I made it look OEM enough to not bother. Wheels are still there. Hell, my fancy sunglasses (which I never use, due to my normal glasses) were left sitting on the floor.

The new tow strap worked wonderfully.

I’m still getting car parts sent to me, which is rough. There are at least four more deliveries scheduled over the next few weeks.

I look at life as a wave, when shit is going good you are riding the wave and when things go south the wave has crashed but that also means you’ve got another wave heading your way.

Nope. I left the door unlocked. The idea was “door unlocked, no valuables in the car” to avoid getting my top cut. Who knows if that was the best call.

For whatever reason, all my other cars were full coverage and the Miata was just liability. I may go with Hagarty next time, because they cover costs of aftermarket parts and are wonderful to work with

I’m sorry to hear about your Miata. People are shitty. Years ago someone smashed the window of my Saturn and stole my aftermarket stereo, subwoofer, amp, and my cd collection. It really does suck.

Good luck with the garage hunt. It really is nice having a secure space to keep and work on your car.

I bought a camera system off a guy this morning. The consensus is that the cameras tend to not help much, but at least you know what the bastard(s) look(s) like. We’ll try out this cheapo system for a while and decide where to proceed from there.

How are your plans for moving to the deeper burbs going?

Grandma’s neighbor. Pretty cool isn’t it? He’s been storing it there for a few years... His place is full of jeeps and trucks (old union welder and pipe fitter guy). The plan is to give it to his son in Alaska, but I’m going to bring it up sometime and see if he’d sell it.

Good decision though, it’s not worth the risk to keep at the modification game in a convertible without a garage. Scumbags though who do that kind of crap...

Harnesses were 660, brackets 460, valued the seats at 300 a piece (seemed to be about what they go for new) plus the steering wheel, quick release hub, wireless charging phone mount, my Broadway clip on mirror (of all the things to steal...) and.... Idk. I’d have to check my sheet, I’m forgetting a few things. I think it’s actually closer to 3k...

Seats don’t bother me that much, Iiked them... But didn’t love them. I just wanted red seats because black seemed a bit boring. Unsure of what seats I’ll go for next time around, maybe lotus seats. Maybe s2000. Brackets and harnesses though.... That hurts. The schroth ASM’s were the perfect harness for street use and I’ll 100% want to replace them. But they take weeks to arrive. And Garage star only makes those seat brackets a few times a year.

Oh yeah those seat brackets were not fucking cheap! I have my extra one I’d sell you on the cheap though if you want one faster. I could always order another one some other time since I don’t have a passenger seat to go along with it anyways. Not that one really helps a whole lot, but one seat makes it drivable at least.

And yeah I could see how that stuff adds up. I’d be more pissed to lose my harness than than anything else too. Especially since I’d just be buying the same exact thing again.
